Post Database Output
I'm considering purchasing a copy of Text Log Monitor but have a few questions first.

1) How do I backup the Monitor, filter and action configurations?

2) I tested archiving the logs to a database but notice that only one column gets created. Is it possible to have tag columns with individual entries?

To back the current configuration select Tools | Export Configuration.

We replaced Text Log Monitor with a much more sophisticated software package called Corner Bowl Log Manager. The new package optionally consolidates all the data into a central database that includes all the information you are requesting.

Post Re: Database Output
I installed CB Log Manager and it has alot more functionality then TLM some of which I would not use like Windows Event Logs and I think Syslogs.

The stuff that stood out was the Dashboard and the Date column when it archives to the database, if you had these two items in TLM...I would have purchased it rather then CBLM.
I most likely will purchase the CB Log Manager but could you answer a few more questions for me, please and thanks.

1) Is there a command line or script I could use to backup the configuration? this is so I could schedule backups.

2) Can I use Syslogs to monitor a bunch of HPThinClient (t5135) on Linux?

Post Configuration Backup and Syslog Server
The configuration data is all saved to .dat files. To manually backup the configurations automatically create a script to copy all the .dat files located in the application data directory. That is:

Windows Server 2003/XP/2000
c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\CornerBowl\Log Manager\

Windows Server 2008/7/Vista
c:\programdata\CornerBowl\Log Manager\

Log Manager includes a syslog server which can monitor and store all received syslog messages. Simply point the syslog on your devices to the machine Log Manager is installed and the data is automatically saved.
